Position Summary:

 

The Buyer position fulfills a critical role by ensuring that the company’s total cost of ownership for goods and services is minimized through negotiations with suppliers, the evaluation and continuous improvement of all cost elements of the supply chain.  This position communicates with suppliers, management, and internal customers the status of cost reduction activities, pricing, and material availability. 

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Engage and negotiate with suppliers for cost and delivery considerations
  2. Engage with internal teams for management of customer orders to meet expectations
  3. Focus on total cost reduction throughout the supply chain
  4. Leading and managing cost reduction projects
  5. Generate RFQ’s or required material to support the business
  6. Manage supplier performance of order confirmations, delivery, and pricing
  7. Works with MRP to minimize purchased materials inventory levels
  8. Minimize shortages for customer orders
  9. Works cooperatively with other internal customers to ensure suppliers are meeting the requirements of the company

 

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, Operations, or Purchasing Management desired
  2. Prior Purchasing experience is desired
  3. Ability to prioritize and perform in a fast-paced environment
  4. Strong negotiation skills
  5. Excellent analytical skills to propose optimal business case solutions
  6. Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of MRP
  7. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  8. Proactive problem solver
  9. Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  10.  CPM or CPIM certification a plus
