Product Specialist (10002948)

As a Product Specialist Pig at Big Dutchman in Araraquara (Brazil), you will be the regional technical reference for our pig production solutions. You will support the Pig BU and LATAM commercial teams by delivering technical analysis, solution design inputs, and product application expertise—reducing dependency on single experts, increasing scalability, and improving response time for TOCs and project demands.

This is a professional-level role for someone with solid experience in pig production systems and the ability to work independently with customers and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1) Pre-sales & Technical Sales Support

  • Support Sales and BU teams with technical consulting for pig projects (new builds, expansions, retrofits).
  • Convert customer requirements into technical concepts (system selection, layouts, scope definitions, assumptions, and constraints).
  • Provide timely and accurate support for TOCs and technical clarifications during bidding.
  • Participate in customer meetings, farm visits, and technical presentations as Big Dutchman’s Pig technical representative.

2) Technical Analysis for Projects (Segment Expertise)

  • Perform technical feasibility analyses for pig segment projects (production flow, housing concept, welfare requirements, climate strategy, feeding concept, manure handling interface).
  • Identify technical risks, boundary conditions, and dependencies; propose mitigation measures.
  • Support internal alignment between Sales, Engineering, Project Execution, Service, and Suppliers to ensure technical consistency from proposal to delivery.

3) Portfolio Application & Standardization (LATAM)

  • Maintain and improve regional application standards, typical solutions, and best-practice guidelines for the Pig BU.
  • Contribute to the quality of technical deliverables such as scope descriptions, equipment lists/BOM inputs, technical notes, and handover packages.
  • Collect market feedback (customers, integrators, internal teams) and translate it into product/application improvements.

4) Knowledge Sharing & Training

  • Build scalability by creating and delivering internal training (product features, application rules, common mistakes, lessons learned).
  • Support onboarding of new team members and help reduce “single-person dependency” through documentation and routines.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Zootechnics/Animal Science, or related fields.

Experience (Professional Level)

  • Proven experience in pig production and/or pig farming equipment/projects, ideally in one or more of:
    • technical sales / application engineering
    • project engineering / execution support
    • product support / field technical support
    • farm design / integration / consulting
  • Experience supporting commercial proposals and technical documentation is strongly preferred.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong understanding of pig production phases (e.g., gestation, farrowing, nursery, finishing) and operational requirements.
  • Ability to analyze and communicate technical trade-offs (performance, animal welfare, cost, constructability, and operability).
  • Proficiency with Excel and structured calculations; ability to work with equipment lists and technical specifications.
  • Ability to interpret technical layouts/drawings (CAD literacy is a plus).

Languages

  • Portuguese (fluent)
  • English (professional working proficiency)
  • Spanish is a plus for LATAM interface.

Travel & Field Work

  • Willingness to travel frequently across Brazil and LATAM for farm visits, project meetings, commissioning support, and exhibitions.

Key Skills & Behaviors

  • Customer-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable in farm environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to align BU priorities with Sales/Engineering realities.
  • Structured problem-solving, ownership, and responsiveness under deadline pressure.
