Product Specialist

As an Egg Product Specialist at Big Dutchman in Araraquara (Brazil), you will be the main regional technical reference for egg production solutions (housing systems, feeding, climate/ventilation, manure handling, egg collection and transfer/grading interfaces, automation, and digital solutions). You will support the Egg BU and LATAM commercial teams with technical analyses, solution definition, and product application expertise—increasing scalability, reducing “single-person dependency,” and improving response times for TOCs and project demands.

This is a professional-level position with strong customer interaction and close internal collaboration with Sales, Engineering, Projects, and Service.

Key Responsibilities

1) Pre-sales & Technical Sales Support

  • Support Sales and BU teams with technical consulting for layer projects (new farms, expansions, and retrofits).
  • Translate customer needs into technical concepts, including capacity, stocking density assumptions, people/animal/egg flows, biosecurity, high-level layout, and civil/utilities interfaces.
  • Provide timely, accurate support for TOCs and technical clarifications during bidding and proposal phases.
  • Join customer meetings, site visits, and technical presentations as the Egg BU technical representative.

2) Technical Analysis & Solution Definition (Segment Expertise)

  • Perform technical feasibility analyses covering:
    • housing system type (cage, cage-free/aviary, floor, etc., depending on portfolio/region)
    • climate and ventilation strategy (tunnel, cross, negative pressure, etc.)
    • feeding and drinking, egg collection/transfer, lighting
    • manure/litter handling and interfaces with storage/treatment
    • animal welfare, performance targets, health, and local compliance requirements
  • Identify technical risks, boundary conditions, and dependencies; propose mitigation actions.
  • Ensure technical consistency from proposal → engineering → execution → commissioning, coordinating internal interfaces.

3) Standardization & Continuous Improvement (LATAM)

  • Maintain and improve regional application standards, typical solutions, design assumptions, and project checklists for Egg.
  • Contribute to technical deliverables such as scope descriptions, technical notes, BOM/equipment list inputs, and handover packages.
  • Capture market feedback and translate it into improvements in products, application rules, documentation, and training.

4) Training, Field Support & Knowledge Transfer

  • Create and deliver internal training (product features, application rules, best practices, recurring issues, lessons learned).
  • Support local teams in resolving technical issues and, when required, provide support during start-up/commissioning.
  • Develop materials that reduce bottlenecks and increase autonomy across functions (Sales, Projects, and Service).

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production/Industrial Engineering, or related fields.

Experience (Professional Level)

  • Proven experience in layer/egg production and/or poultry equipment and projects, ideally in:
    • technical sales support / application engineering
    • projects and execution (farms, automation, climate)
    • technical consulting / integration / farm operations
    • field support / commissioning
  • Experience with commercial proposals and technical documentation is strongly preferred.

Technical Competencies

  • Solid understanding of egg production systems and operational routines.
  • Ability to analyze and communicate trade-offs (performance, welfare, cost, constructability, operation, and maintenance).
  • Proficiency in Excel and structured calculations; ability to work with equipment lists and technical specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret layouts/technical drawings (CAD is a plus).

Languages

  • Portuguese (fluent)
  • English (professional working proficiency)
  • Spanish is a plus for LATAM interaction.

Travel & Field Work

  • Willingness to travel frequently across Brazil and LATAM (site visits, project meetings, trade fairs, project support).
